Welcome to Golden Mountain Acupuncture. My name is Jean
Fleming,
and I am a licensed acupuncturist in Trinidad, Colorado. I
have a
master’s degree in Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine from the
Oregon
College of Oriental
Medicine . I am also a certified instructor of
QiGong. While I originally trained in Traditional Chinese
Medicine or
TCM, I currently practice Chinese medicine based on my
continuing study and practice in the Taoist traditions.
In my practice I use acupuncture, acupressure, oriental massage
therapy, dietary counseling and QiGong exercises.
My philosophy and
strategy in
practicing medicine
In order to prevent and treat illness and ultimately maintain our
health, it is necessary to build a solid foundation for health to
flourish. This includes proper eating habits, sleep and
exercise
habits. Without this foundation of healthy habits, any
therapy or
medicine will be less effective and the therapy will not ultimately
bring us back to a state of full health. Chinese medical
traditions stress the importance of keeping our bodies
strong so we do not succumb to illness in the first place.
There is no magic pill that will make us more healthy or slow the aging
of our bodies. Many of the physical and
emotional ailments we suffer from in the United States can be treated
successfully with simple and inexpensive therapies. Good
food, exercise and sleep are not expensive,
and tending to these basic needs enriches our lives in profound
ways. Think of how much money we can save on beauty products,
medication and doctors visits; not to mention the precious time we
waste
feeling tired and ill. When each of these daily habits is
practiced with thought and understanding we keep ourselves
healthy without much extra effort.
Our bodies are incredibly intelligent, and they are constantly trying
to balance themselves in a constantly changing environment. I
find
acupuncture, bodywork and acupressure to be excellent tools for
removing blocked and stagnant Qi. They are also excellent
tools for
training muscles to remember their proper alignment, and thus regaining
proper alignment of the body. Qi Gong practice and healthy
daily
habits keep us strong and resilient.
I do not call myself a healer. I use my talents and skills to
guide the healing that can only be done by the person who needs to be
healed. My reason for practicing medicine is to facilitate
physical health
so that our talents may blossom and our missions be accomplished.
